Kekeletso Angela Motloheloa, mostly called “Keke or Letso”. She’s a 22 years old lady, born on the 25th of April 1997. She is very driven in everything that she set her mind to. She’s passionate about dancing. She says, “Dancing has been part of who I am ever since I was a little girl, and the love for dancing grows each and every day. My happiness comes from dancing.
I found myself, my inner strength, my faith, overcoming insecurities and found my power in dancing. I used to doubt myself so much in everything that I do, thinking that I would never be enough in anything because I was weakened by judgements. Now I have grown into being this beautiful, talented and strong Black African woman.”
We asked Letso few questions to learn more about her and I hope you’ll learn more about and from her:
ARE YOU CURRENTLY STUDYING? (if yes, state what you are studying?)
"Yes I am studying. I am a student at the University Of Johannesburg, Studying Retail Business Management."
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BE A DANCER AND WHEN DID YOU START TO BE A DANCER?
"At a very young age, I would continuously watch artists such as Beyonce and Ciara on Television. Being me, I would then go to my room and imitate their dance moves. My mom also inspired me to dance. She was a Pantsula dancer. She tried teaching few moves. I was really shy to show the world that I can dance until grade 7 at our farewell function, I just decided to let go of the self-doubt. Since then I have never been scared."
IS THERE ANY CAREER THAT YOU’D LIKE TO ASPIRE IN?
"At the moment, all that is in my mind is pursuing my dream of becoming one of the South Africa’s best choreographers. I would also love to start up my own dance company for those who aspire to be dancers. "
DO YOU BELIEVE IN BLACK EMPOWERMENT?
"Yes, Absolutely! Black Empowerment is what I stand for. Considering how society is evolved, Black Empowerment has excelled way beyond words, and as a young black woman, I believe I am also capable of empowerment."
IS THERE A QUOTE OR SAYING DO YOU LIVE BY?
“If you can dream it, you can do It” – Walt Disney
DO YOU HAVE A MENTOR OR ROLE MODEL? (if yes, kindly state who and why)
"My Mother of course. Nobody in this world has ever loved me the way she does. She has supported, guided and motivated me to live my life like its golden. My mother has been there for me through the good and bad times and has always reminded me to keep going despite the fear. "
WHAT CHALLENGES DO YOU FACE ON A DAILY BASIS AS A DANCER?
"I struggle with overcoming self-doubt. I often feel like some certain moves are not good enough for people to see. And I am challenged by my knee injury too, it often gets hard for me to dance sometimes."
