“They don’t take their jobs seriously; they make money on gigs and sped it the same night trying to impress people around them and spending money on alcohol.”
“Don’t compete with other DJs but compete with yourself, try to do better than yesterday. ”
“It is moving too fast, I think 5 years from now, we will have a lot of DJs that are doing tours around the world. “
“2014, that year changed the Hip Hop music in South Africa and it is growing each and every year and now we close to global.”
“Maskandi because its only on one national Radio station, and we don’t see their music videos on our music channel but that genre has many fans in KZN so I believe if they can broadcast like other genres, they can make big moves.”
“Everyone is focused on his own hustle and pushing hard to change the SA music scene.”
“Artists on top don’t want to open up the industry. They always want to do something that will uplift them not the young ones in the game.”
“It started years back in 2011, when I was a rapper and it didn’t work out for me but I was in love with the music scene so I jumped to being a DJ and it was not easy but I had to learn. I started to go out to watch other DJs entertain the crowd until I became one of them. My first gig was at one of famous clubs in town ‘101’ and it was packed. I was scared but after 3 minutes on stage, I turned to a turnup DJ and everyone was happy. After that I didn’t stop . I have been on different cities around the country and different radio stations, signed with PalmTreesENT. I dropped two singles with Nelz, Trillmvtic and MusiholiQ, working on another one with Nana_attah and Andy Taylor. Now I am working hard to have my own radio show.”
“I am inspired by Black Coffee. The man did it from zero to hero. He started at the hood like us from Mlazi to the world, that means a lot to me and shows that I can still make it and making it has nothing to do with where you come from.”
“Last year when I was playing at the Joe Cools North Beach. I was partying with my brother for the first time; he witnessed my talent on that day.”
